5-29-09 random thoughts

Earlier in the week I was the new Terminator and Star Trek movies. I am not sure which movie is the better movie. The one thing I am positive about is that it cost way to much money to see two movies in such a short period of time.

As I watched the National Spelling Bee I realized that I have not heard most of the words that were picked for the kid to spell. To be truthful I doubt that I could even pronounce most of the words that were picked for this spelling bee.

I have decided that I am going to read the Harry Potter books. There was a time in my life I would have refused to read the books because they dealt with magic. It is amazing how I see things in my life as I grow in my faith.

I have to give Cubs pitcher Zambrano credit for taking the punishment he deserves. Most players would appeal their suspension instead of just serving the time handed out.

The number one hit post that I have is about a scam email that claims to be from the FBI. It seems that about every other week this email is sent out which lead to a lot of new visitors to this very very small blog.

I hope that you all have a great weekend. God bless you all.

Have you ever been curious how a song writer writes a song? Are you a little curious about the music business? If so, Ginny Owens is offering two online courses during June that deals with these subjects. If you have the free time and this interest you, please consider taking Ginny online course called Unpacking the Power of a Song. Is this decision?

How does forcing the automaker to spend billion of dollars they do not have, to improve fuel economy, help them survive the current economic conditions?

President Obama said that the money the consumer would save from the better gas mileage would offset the additional $1,500 added to the car price because of these new standards. It seems that President Obama did not take in account everybody raising their gas taxes to make up for the lost revenue because of all these fuel efficient vehicles. The governor for state of Wisconsin wants to add a yearly surcharge of $50.00 to all hybrid vehicles owners because of lost gas tax revenue.

Oh by the way, is it not funny how these new standards would take affect  a year after President Obama finished a possible second term.

Someone I work with stated that the best thing about President Obama was that we now get to see that former President Bush was really a good President. I am beginning to agree with him.

Smoking pot = stupid actions

without comments

Roughly a quarter of my co-workers believe that there is nothing wrong with smoking pot.  I wonder how many people would agree with them after reading this story.    Maybe they should have read this before they toke up.

It is because of you.

It truly is a awesome day because of three milestones being passed over.  The first is that Compassion has passed over a million sponsors.  A million children whose lives are being changed while a million sponsors lives are being enriched at the same time.
The second milestone is that the India compassion bloggers have had  900 children sponsored.  Thank you to the bloggers for leaving their families to document what Compassion was doing in India.   It is obvious that your  readers understood the importance of what you were doing.
Lastly a child is going to receive life saving surgery because people were willing to sacrifice a few dollars to put forth so a  child could live.
Thank you to everyone who made this possible.   You are showing what it means to love as Christ does.

A great Saturday night.

without comments

It sure was a great Saturday night. I headed up to the Cup O Joy to see Ginny Owens show. Ginny sang a few of the songs from her Say Amen album while keeping in some of her timeless classics songs. Ginny kept all of as laughing through out the show. I just wish that she realized how funny she can at time. Ginny did mention that there is a possibility of a Ephemera II album. I hope that she gets the chance to make one since the first one was good ep album.

The Cup is a great venue to experience the show. With large video screens hanging in front it allows everyone to see the performer doing their thing even if you have to sit in the back row. Like all the other times I attended a show the Cup I found the staff very friendly.

If you are in Jackson Mississippi, on May 19th , you have to attend Ginny’s show. Beside attending a great show you can help raise money for the American Cancer Society.
