torn between two arguments
I have been torn between two arguments. Both have compelling facts. I just cannot make up my mind. What is the argument that has me torn? Do we need to bail out the auto industry?
The reason why I am torn about this argument is because I am employed in the auto industry. As many of you know I am employed by a auto dealership group and my job is selling collision crash parts. There is a good chance if one of the us automakers goes bankrupt I will end up losing my job. Who would want to by a car from a bankrupted automaker. The domino effect would harm all the us auto makers and probably drive the US into a depression.
The thing is, I do not want the automakers bailed out. Their current structure will not allow them to succeeded in the long run. They need to have labor cost cut to match the Asian automakers. Until these cost are even the us automaker cannot compete on a fair ground. The only way that things will change is when they file chapter 11 and they are forced to address their labor issues.
I hope that someone will find a solution before one of the automakers collapse. Otherwise, I feel that this country will go into a depression. The last time there was a bad depression it took a world war to get us out of it.
