My time in DC and Ginny Owens at XM Radio
It surly has been a very interesting week. It will probably be a couple of weeks before everything has soaked in.
The drive out to DC was great. From the rolling fields of corn to mountains I was continuously reminded of God and His glory. I still do not understand how someone can think that this is all a result of some sort of big bang.
While in the DC area I stayed with a friend that I grew up with. He and his family is currently renting a home because they were not sure where they wanted to live. My friend would drop me off in DC in the morning and I would take the metro to the station that was close to his house when I was finished that day. I was surprised on how clean the metro stations and trains were. The metro staff was extremely friendly. The only complaint that I have is that the metro-ride card that I bought became useless after putting it in the same pocket as my cell phone. My phone erased the magnet strip on the card some how. They gave me a envelope to mail it in to get my money back. My friend decided that I needed to take a bike ride along the Potomac. Great ideals except I have not been on a bike for roughly twenty years. I only fell once during the ride.
Tuesday was a big day. It was the day I was attending Ginny Owens XM Radio recoding. The XM radio staff was a friendly staff and willing to take the group for a tour after the recording.
Ginny sounded great. I always come away from one of her shows amazed with how beautiful her voice is. Ginny sang portions of two new songs during the recording session. If the rest of the songs are anything like the portions of the songs she sang for us, I believe she will have a great album. Ginny also sung a old gospel song or poem. I still not sure which one it was. It was a beautiful song. If today’s radio was willing to play such a song, Ginny would have a hit on he hands.
After the show Ginny spend some time chatting with us. She was very gracious with her time. I managed to ask Ginny if she was going to try to release her new album with a label. As of now she is planning release it as a indie album. Ginny also said that she is till trying to figure out who she is going to have produce her new album. I was shocked when Ginny asked if I had bought a car yet. I am curious how she knew that I was buying a new car. As I was leaving Ginny told me that I could start my vacation. My vacation started when Ginny sang her first song that day.
Oh, before I forget, Ginny announced that in month or two that she will be releasing six acoustic songs through I-tunes and her website. I hope that time flies by until those songs are released. If she was willing to take preorders for those six songs, I would have handed her a bunch of money right there on the spot. I will make sure that when the songs become available that I give you all a heads up so you can stop by I-tunes or Ginny’s web site to get them.
There was one moment that I was lost for words. It was when Mrs. Tyler made a comment on how she looked. Then Ginny said she looked that way. Neither one of them looked the way Nancy said she looked. They both are very beautiful. I know that they both were joking when they said what they had said, but still I wish they would not say that about themselves.
On the way home I stopped by my grandparents in Michigan. It was great to spend a little bit of time with them. When it was time for me to head out, my grandmother did not want to let go of me. I still have not figured our why Chicago would have the two main ways through them under construction at the same time. Traffic was horrible. I enjoy driving bumper to bumper doing ten miles an hour.
It was great to get home and sleep in my own bed. Last night I had the best night sleep in probably in a month.
