Happy Birthday America
Happy Birthday America!
Today many Americans will celebrate today by putting out their flags, swearing their alliance to America, spending time with family and friends, barbecuing and finishing the night off by watching the sky explode with fireworks.
I was part of that crowd. I stuck my chest out and proudly announced that I am an American. As I look back, I was worshiping this country. I was wrong with my beliefs and actions.
I have come to realize that I am resident of this country. I am citizen of heaven and that is where my allegiance belongs. I serve the one and only true God, His son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit.
I am very thankful for being born in this country. It allows me to worship God free of fear and persecution. It allows me to share my faith with family and friends. It has afforded me the opportunity to have a stable job, a roof above my head, and food in my stomach.
I do love my country. I just do not worship it any more. There was a time I was willing to die fighting for this country. The thing is I am not sure if I am willing to fight and or die for this country. I just am unable to see how fighting and or dieing for this country advances God and His kingdom to which I belong to.
So as I celebrate this nations birth, I will thank God for allowing me to be born in this great country that I do love.
Happy Birthday America!
