I might be more confused now then I was three hours ago.
I might be more confused now then I was three hours ago. The pastor decided to give a sermon aimed at those of us who are not married. It seemed that half the sermon was aimed at how it is my fault that I am not married. Then the second part of the sermon was how lucky that I was not to be married. The one thing was made clear to the married group, stop trying to make us feel inadequate because we single people are not married. Otherwise we sub come to the pressure and settle for someone that we should not be involved with.
Before I forget, the pastor state that a study done showed that 80% of couples who live together before they get married end up divorced ten years later. I wonder why there is such a high divorce rate for couples who live together before they get married?

Hate and Anger
I have a few question. Does anger lead to hate or does hate lead to anger?
Ephesians 4:26
“In your anger do not sin” : Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,
James 1:20
for man’s anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.
Psalm 37:8
Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil.
Psalm 4:4
In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Selah
1 John 4:20
If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.
Titus 3:3
At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.

A couple of new links and other stuff.
2) Are you a morning person? I am not. This week I have been going in about an hour and a half early to cover for someone who is on vacation. There was a sarcastic remark made by one of the guys at work this morning about me not being a morning person.
3) Today I finally changed the cd in my car. I am now listening to Jars Of Clay Good Monster. I have a feeling that it will be in my cd player for awhile.
4) I am excited that Andrew Peterson is going to be at the Cup O Joy next month. I hope that I can make it to the show. I am hoping that he will autograph his book for me.

I am tired
Does it seem like you are always tired? It seems like I am. I know my fellow co-workers have said they seem to be tired more often. Could it be that we are not obeying God?
In today’s world we are so busy that we seem to lose time. There is always something more to be done. I look at my married friends. When they get off from work, they are always running their kids to practice or some activity. When they are not running their kids around, they have to do their running. When they finally get home there is dinner to be made, home work to be done, and chores to be done. Then, they are up early the next morning to repeat what had happened the day before. When it get to the weekend, the days even become more hectic with little time to rest.
One friend stated that is what vacations are for. The problem is that you are still running around at a hectic pace. The only difference is that you are not at work. Each moment of the vacation planned out to the final minute. Then you get back to work and you catch up meaning that you are working even longer or working the weekends.
I have noticed that I am not the funniest person to be around with little sleep. I have very little patients with myself and the people around me. I tend to drink way to much soda then when I am well rested. With all the extra soda I am over caffeinated and I end up not sleeping. Thus, I end up repeating the same grouchy day again.
God had a reason when He commanded us to rest on the seventh day. We need to rest and relax. We need to give our bodies the chance to heal itself. When we are always running on empty and poorly eating all we are doing is destroying the body God gave us. Instead of scheduling our Sundays and vacations to the final minute, we should be resting. Maybe we should schedule a nap after church on Sunday or attend church on Saturday and sleeping in on Sunday.
I just know that I am not meant to run a hundred miles an hour seven day a week twenty four hours a day. I am not the person God wants me to be when I am living that life style.
Are you ready to rest?
Exodus 20:8-11 (New International Version)
8 ”Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

Who owns who?
Do you own the cell phone or does it own you? Not an easy question to answer if you think about it.
The reason why I bring up this subject is because I had to get a new cell phone. No I did not drop it in the toilet. Instead, I forgot to take it out of my shirt pocket before I washed my clothing. At least the phone was nice and clean when it came out of the washing machine, but it was dead.
When I went shopping for a new phone, I was asked to sign up for a new two year contract. By signing up I could save a lot money. I said no to a new contract because I was no longer obligated to pay a cancellation fee if I cancelled my cell phone service. This freaked out the salesman. He was not sure how to sell a phone without a new contract.
It was signing a contract that made me think that you never really own the phone instead the phone owns you. You become a slave to the required monthly payments that were agreed to when you sign your cell phone contract. If you miss one of the payments, your credit history could be damaged. Also, if need to cancel the phone because you can no longer afford it you have to pay a penalty that you cannot afford.
Cell phones are so prevalent in today’s society. People talk on them non stop. A friend of mine made this for the Third Coast International Audio Festival. Can you relate to what she was saying? I sure can.
So again, my question is do you own the phone or does it own you? Do you need it to be with you all the times? Do you need to be using it while you are going to the bathroom? If you need to cut expenses, would cancelling your phone be the first thing to come to your mind or would you give something else up so you could keep your phone?
Who owns who?

pot = mental illness
Feds: Teen use of pot can lead to dependency, mental illness
By JENNIFER C. KERR, Associated Press Writer 2 hours, 50 minutes ago
WASHINGTON – Depression, teens and marijuana are a dangerous mix that can lead to dependency, mental illness or suicidal thoughts, according to a White House report being released Friday.
A teen who has been depressed at some point in the past year is more than twice as likely to have used marijuana as teens who have not reported being depressed — 25 percent compared with 12 percent, said the report by the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. (to read more click here)
I guess all those who argue that there is no harm smoking pot have lost another leg to stand on.

song Love(13)
For almost the last two weeks Charlie Dodrill’s cd Eyes of the Exception has been on in my car. I find myself listening more closely to the song Love (13)
Here are a few of the verses from that song.
Though you have faith, to say to the mountain
Go throw yourself to the depths of the see
Though you offer up your body to be burned
Without love, what’s that to me.
The song comes from 1 Cor. 13
I highly recommend this album. I believe you will not be disappointed in this album. It is better then his first album.

buying a car

It has been almost a year since I started to look for another car. I have narrowed down my selection to two cars. One of the problems I am still having is trying to figure out what options I want. This leads me to another problem. How do I justify paying so much money for a car. Maybe by next year I will make up my mind and finally buy another car to replace the car that I am driving now.
