my mind has been running a hundred miles an hour

without comments

Have you ever been reading a book before you went to bed to only wake up in the middle of the night thinking about what the author had written. This has happen more then once this week. As I have been reading the Velvet Elvis and the book of Galatians, I have been waking up in the middle of the night and having my mind running a hundred mile an hour with what I had read. It is not like I have not read the book of Galatians before or read about the concepts that the Velvet Elvis is putting forth. I just hope that I get a good nights sleep tonight.Thomas

The IRS has put out a new bulletin:

Payment Scams Starting

IR-2008-11, Jan. 30, 2008

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today warned taxpayers to beware of several current e-mail and telephone scams that use the IRS name as a lure. The IRS expects such scams to continue through the end of tax return filing season and beyond. The IRS cautioned taxpayers to be on the lookout for scams involving proposed advance payment checks. Although the government has not yet enacted an economic stimulus package in which the IRS would provide advance payments, known informally as rebates to many Americans, a scam which uses the proposed rebates as bait has already cropped up.The goal of the scams is to trick people into revealing personal and financial information, such as Social Security, bank account or credit card numbers, which the scammers can use to commit identity theft. (to read more click here. Those who have received a questionable telephone call that claims to come from the IRS may also use the phishing@irs.gov mailbox to notify the IRS of the scam.

I hope that you do not recieve such an e-mail, but if do please contact the IRS with the above link.

my life right now

with one comment

Here are few things going on in my life right now.

1) I finished the book called Static. I had started reading the book when Shaun Groves started a discussion about the book on his blog. Shaun lost his book so I stopped reading the book hoping that Shaun would find his book and start the discussion again. I realized that the discussion would never start again so I finished the book.

2) I started a new book called Velvet Elvis. It is interesting and I do see where the author is coming from at times.

3) I thought that winter was suppose to be over with and spring was suppose to start last week. Yet, on the first full day of spring, we get fourteen inches of snow. Where is this global warming I keep on hearing about?

4) We need a simpler tax code. It still took me over an hour to do my taxes and I was using one of the tax programs. Am I crazy for not writing off the money I give to my church or the money I give to Compassion or other Christian ministries. For some reason I feel like the government does not need to know to what ministries I support or how much money I am giving them.

A few things from the Circle Trilogy to singing in the church choir.

with one comment

Last week I finished the The Circle Trilogy. Over all I did enjoy reading the three books. I wish that the series would have ended a little differently. For some reason building a statue to be on the White House lawn as tribute seemed out of place. I could go in more detail but to be more specific could end up being a spoiler for someone. You might as well read the three books to find out what I righting about.

Saturday night I got together with friends I grew up with. The evening did come to a end to quickly. It is great sharing stories, playing Risk, and discussing the Bible and God. It seems at times that I learn more about God when I am with them then I do at church. I think part of it is that we have seen each other at our best and worst of times. We trust each other to be honest and more open to what the other person has to say. I just wish that we can find away to do this more often.

At work we were talking and I ask have you ever thought about how every breath you take is a new breath and will not duplicated. Each moment is something unique. Some thing to be enjoyed. They now say I am crazy for thinking such stuff and I need to lay on a couch and discuses this with a shrink.

One of the people I attend church with has been after me to join the choir. I keep I saying no. First of all, I suck as a singer. The other reason I will not join the choir is because I am always changing the words to a song. No mater how many times I sing the song with the words in front of me I change some of the words. For some reason I want to edit the songs we are singing. I have at times stopped sing just to think about what the song writer was trying to say just so the song make sense to me.
