Sports Illustrated Calendar and What It has to do with beautiful
I wrote this a few years ago. I have edited it, but I am not sure if I am happy with the outcome.
What is beautiful? That is the conversation that I had with my fellow co-workers. One of my Co-workers has a Sports Illustrated Calendar that show the various models dressed in various swim attire. The conversation at work use to be “is this person attractive or not”. During the last conversation, my fellow co-workers found out my definition of beautiful is different then theirs. What my co-workers said was beautiful was based on a women’s breast size, how flat her stomach is, and how tight her butt is. I will admit that I fell into this group at one time.
So how do I define beautiful? I will define beautiful by three ladies that I respect and admire.
The first is Bec. She is a courageous woman. She did something that I would never do. She jumped out of a perfectly fine airplane. She did this in order to over come her fear heights. Bec is also someone who works children who are struggling in life. I wish that I had Bess courage when facing my fears. But God has blessed Bec with that strength.
Second is Nancy. Nancy is a person who listens to those who needs help. She has the ability to pick the right words or point out the right direction that one needs to go. She is a humble person who is willing to promote others instead of herself. Nancy does a weekly radio show that she uses to minister to others. She could easily promote herself, but instead teaches other about Jesus and His love through the great music that she picks out. Nancy has continually said that her radio show is about us and not about her. This is evident by the countless hours she spends trying to pick out the right song or subject matter even tough she is not paid to do the radio show.
Third is Ginny. Ginny is a person who uses the gifts that God gave her to help those who are in need. Many of Ginny’s songs come from her journal entries and these songs have helped people who are struggling in life. Another way that Ginny helps those who are in need is by forming and running a non-profit foundation. Ginny funds this organization by donating ten percent of her concert sale to her foundation. Also, Ginny spent almost a year building and funding a house for a habitat family. Ginny also take time out of her busy schedule to teach music to children who would not have the chance to learn about music. Ginny is one whose life is a true witness of God’s love and her love for God.
As you can see, I did not define these ladies by their physical features. I could have done so and you would see that they are beautiful ladies. These ladies should not and cannot be defined by their looks. They are defined by whom they are inside. This is the place where true beauty lies. Ladies I am sorry that I have not told you this but you are very beautiful!!!
Nancy’s radio show is True Story Radio. It can be heard on Thursday at 3:00 pm Eastern Time zone at www.fcac.org/webr
Ginny’s non-profit foundation is Fingerprint Initiative. www.fingerprintinitiative.org
